Guyana Jaguars tramp Libertyville Vipers

Guyana bounced back from their first night defeat to beat Libertyville Vipers on Saturday, the second night of the MegaMart/Sports Development Foundation inaugural JamRockerz Tri-Nation Invitational Basketball Series Classic at the National Indoor Sports Centre, Jamaica.a343dif0vr8s0iyem7m1-png-resize-710x399
While the Jamaica national basketball team defeated Guyana national basketball team, the Golden Jaguars 83-77 on the opening night, The Guyanese amassed 91 points while Vipers only managed 84 to emerge victorious.
The local guys were once again led by Terron Welch who produced 20 points and he was assisted by Dominique Vincente (14 points, five rebounds and four assists) while Yurio Tomnlin’s 28 points and 10 rebounds could not stop the Guyanese.
Guyana dominated early in the first period; marching to a 12 point lead with the score locked in at 23-11 and remained so until the close of the second period with both teams adding 19 points.
However, the third quarter saw Vipers closed the gap down to just four points with the score 61-57, setting the stage for a thrilling last quarter.
The men from the land of many waters did not disappoint and managed to outscore the Vipers by three points in a quarter where they added 30 points to their total and inevitably winning the match by seven points.
The Jaguars were expected to be in action on Monday but up to press time no scores were available.
