Agricultural Minister Zulfikar Mustapha

Though many countries lack in their capacity to construct technological aid as it relates to their agricultural sector, the Guyana School of Agriculture plans are set for the establishment of a Fab lab.
The Fab lab, which is set to be replica from the one in Costa Rica is set to be a digital fabrication lab, with state-of-the-art technology, where online equipment is produced for agriculture. It is set to inspire creativity and promote education and continuous learning through youths and women.
According to the Agriculture Minister, Zulfikar Mustapha this state-of-the-art replication is set to serve as a tool as it will integrate youths into the agricultural sector. 35 percent of women and youth are in the government’s plans to be incorporate into projects such as these. “There is a perception that young people have where they think that agriculture is only for old people who never went to school,” he expressed whilst then stating that projects like these will help change that perception.
Meanwhile the minster then stated that amongst the establishment of the fab lab, other plans are set to be established as Guyana is set to also see the establishment of a brand-new Data Centre. This data center will provide real time data to not only persons in Guyana but to persons within the Caribbean.
The minister made mention that all new proposed establishments set to be completed are driven from president’s Dr Irfaan Ali’s vision of making Guyana the food hub throughout the region. The innovation was supported by the UNDP and the Canadian Government.
