…launches int’l mining investment platform
With the launch of the Guyana Mining and Exploration Conference and Exhibition (G-MEX) on Wednesday, the Government is looking to create more opportunities for local stakeholders, adopt mining technology and innovation and attract new investments and exploration activities. According to the Natural Resources Ministry, Guyana has embarked on a new journey with the launch of G-MEX – a significant milestone for the country.

Dubbed as Guyana’s premier mining conference, G-MEX has been created as an annual international mining investment platform, designed to connect Guyana’s mineral potential with the people, partnerships, technology and investment needed to responsibly develop it. The Ministry noted that the map at the heart of the G-MEX logo, the gold, the green landscape and leaves and the circular movement surrounding these elements represents the connections, continuity and progress in the local mining sector – bringing together Government, industry, communities, investors and international partners around one shared vision. G-MEX aims to bring this vision to life through five interconnected pillars: the G-MEX Conference, the G-MEX Exhibition, the G-MEX Investor Forum, the G-MEX Geological Showcase and the G-MEX Awards. The Natural Resources Ministry says that the true importance of G-MEX will ultimately be measured by what it creates for Guyana. It means greater international visibility for our mineral sector; attracting responsible investment and new exploration; creating opportunities for local miners, suppliers, contractors and entrepreneurs; introducing Guyana to new technologies, expertise and international best practices; strengthening relationships between Government, industry, communities and investors; creating opportunities for employment, knowledge transfer and skills development for Guyanese. “G-MEX means positioning Guyana not simply as a country rich in minerals, but as a country capable of managing, developing and showcasing those resources responsibly on the international stage. G-MEX therefore represents something much larger than an annual event. It is about connecting global opportunities with Guyanese potential,” the Ministry stated.
This premier mining conference was launched during the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission’s (GGMC) annual Awards Ceremony and Business Mixer held on Wednesday evening at the Guyana Marriott Hotel in Georgetown. The event was hosted as part of the Mining Week 2026 activities. Awardees receiving recognition during the ceremony were top producers for sand, diamond, bauxite, quarry and gold. The top gold dealer and trader were also recognised, in addition to the top diamond trader. Moreover, the GGMC also recognised notable industry performers and several gold smiths, while special awards were issued to persons who contributed significantly to the mining school and Guyana’s Jewellery Sector. The GGMC continues to play an integral role in the Natural Resources Sector and its success is achieved with the significant contribution of its stakeholders.
