Guyana males rule volleyball court

The Guyana male volleyball team retained its title at the Inter Guiana Games (IGG) yesterday at the National Gymnasium after a whopping 3-0 win in the second match of their best in three series.
Like they did in the opening match on Friday, the champions started well and continued on that path until they closed the match.

The local players for a second time showed great agility and understanding of the sport as they dominated from start to end. They won the match 25-14, 25-13 and 25-7 to retain the title.
Meanwhile, the local females went down to the Dutch side for a second time in as many meetings. In the first set the host made some technical errors and with some splendid plays, the visitors cruise to win that set easily. It finished 25-5.
Subsequently, the host fought back and had their best display of the tournament as they won 21 points, however, that was not good enough to win that set.
The final set ended 25-9 as the locals gave up the fight.
The final match of the three best in series will be played tomorrow at the said venue and Guyana males will look to claim a clean sweep while the females must seek a consolation win.
The female clash will get underway at 13:00h and male match will start at 15:00h.
