Guyana National Cycling Championships main event set for Sunday

After some intriguing racing events during the last week, the final event of the Guyana National Cycling Championships, which will pedal off tomorrow, Sunday June 30, 2019, will feature the country’s best cyclists battling in the Elite Male/Seniors Road Race.

Some of the best cyclists in the country will be on show in Sunday’s humdinger

This race will commence at 7:30h at Homestretch Avenue in Georgetown, and will travel to Moblissa Hill on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway before returning to Homestretch Avenue for the finish, covering a distance of 120 miles.
In the Time Trials’ events of these championships held on Saturday last, Briton John emerged champion in the Senior Males’ category, while Team Evolution’s Denise Jeffery did likewise in the Females’ category. Ajay Gopilall emerged champion in the Juniors’ category, while Jonathan Ramsuchit won the Juveniles’ category. And Paul Choo-Wee-Nam emerged champion in the Veterans/Masters’ category.
The day after those Time Trials, Sunday last, races in the above categories pedalled off, and some spectacular finishes resulted. Team Evolution’s Andy Spencer emerged champion in the Veterans/Masters’ category, while Denise Jeffery won in the Females’ category. Ajay Gopilall won the Juniors’ category, while Mario Washington won the Juveniles’ category.
Cycling stars Briton and Jamaul John, Michael Anthony, Andre ‘Padlock’ Greene, Walter Grant Stewart and Paul De Nobrega, among others, will be on show tomorrow, Sunday June 30, 2019, when this scintillating event pedals off at 7:30h from outside the head offices of the National Sports Commission on Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown.
