Guyana Table Tennis Association “coaching the way forward”

As part of its “COVID-19 and Beyond” initiative, the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) will be hosting a coaches and administrators’ forum scheduled for Friday, July 25, 2020, commencing at 19:00h (7pm), utilising the virtual Zoom meeting platform.

Facilitating this session will be 14-time national champion and former Caribbean Champion, International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Coach Certification Coordinator and Level 3 Coach Sydney Christophe.

The meeting will feature a SWOT analysis of coaching in Guyana; ITTF coaching pathway/roadmap; key

elements of coaching ethics and protocols; coaching collaboration avenues for earning promotion; post COVID-19 trends/examples in other countries; policy creation and review and Guyana and the next steps, among other agenda items.
In an interview, National Coach Linden Johnson, when asked his feelings on the hosting of the meeting, said, “I feel it is good opportunity for table tennis in Guyana and will advise coaches, players, parents and table tennis friends to make use of this forum. I think that around this time this forum is a positive move for table tennis in Guyana, especially when you follow the agenda. Persons can learn so much about positive coaching and can understand the functioning of coaches.”
