Guyana to host Global Aviation Safety forum in Sept

The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalising arrangements for Guyana to host the ICAO/EASA Third Global Regional Safety Oversight Organisation (RSOO) and Regional Accident and Incident Investigation Organisation (RAIO) Forum for Aviation Safety.
The agreement marks a step for Guyana’s aviation sector and signals the country’s expanding role in international aviation safety standards.

MoU was signed by Director General of the GCAA, Egbert Field and Secretary General of ICAO, Juan Carlos Salazar

The forum is scheduled for September 29-30, 2026, and will bring together aviation stakeholders, government officials responsible for transport, infrastructure, finance, the economy and tourism, as well as industry partners, international organisations and technical experts.
Organised in collaboration with ICAO, the event is expected to serve as a platform for advancing regional safety oversight and strengthening frameworks for accident and incident investigations.
The MoU was signed by Egbert Field, Director General of the GCAA, and Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of ICAO.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the Global Aviation Safety Symposium, currently being held in Marrakech, highlighting ongoing international efforts to improve aviation safety standards.
