Guyana to receive new Austrian Ambassador

Minister of State, Joseph Harmon has announced that a new Austrian Ambassador to Guyana would be accredited.
Speaking at a post-Cabinet press briefing on Thursday, he explained that Cabinet has given its approval for the acceptance of her Excellency, Ambassador Marian Feldman as the non-resident ambassador of Austria to Guyana. He explained that this appointment would provide for “continued collaboration” as well as “enhanced bilateral relations”.
Ambassador Feldman takes over the reins from outgoing official Gerhard Mayer. Feldman will be based in Bogotá, Colombia.
“Guyana and Austria established diplomatic relations in April 1973 and have supported each other on numerous occasions at the United Nations and other multinational fora,” the Minister of State expressed.
Austria is a German-speaking central European country that gained its republican status in 1918. The current federal parliamentary republic has a college of three acting Presidents and the head of government is Christian Kern who serves as Chancellor.
