The first round of the bilateral series between Guyana and Barbados’ Under- 15s as part of the revamped Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars U15 Men’s tournament met a truncated end on Sunday, after being washed out.
Following persistent rainfall along Guyana’s coastline on Saturday, the inclement weather continued into Sunday forcing the first match in the five-match bilateral series between the two countries to be abandoned without a ball bowled at the Lusignan Sports Club Ground, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Organisers and players will be hoping that weather conditions in Guyana improve over the next few days, with the second-round game scheduled for Tuesday, March 31 at the same ECD venue. Game three will move to the Everest Cricket Club Ground in Georgetown on Thursday, April 2 while the final two matches are slated for the Georgetown Cricket Club Ground on April 4 and April 6.
The Guyanese Under-15 squad reads: Captain Lomar Seecharan, Brandon Grimmond, Gautam Dhanraj, Luke Amsterdam, Akash Ramdewar, Nathan Bishop, Asgallary Nabbie, Altaf Ali, Makai Dowlin, Leon Reddy, Johnathan Barry, Devraj Persaud, Ravid Fredricks, and Jaydan Ganpat.
The team is being steered by Head Coach Yeuraj Khemraj and Manager Terry Newton.
According to CWI, the Under-15 Tournament is primarily focused on talent identification. In shaping this year’s format, the body placed priority on maintaining playing opportunities, broadening scouting reach, and creating meaningful development experiences for players across the Caribbean.
In other parts of the Region on Sunday, the Leeward Islands took on Windward Islands at the Coolidge Cricket Club Ground in Antigua while Jamaica battled Trinidad and Tobago at Melbourne Park, Kingston, Jamaica.
