Guyana’s national junior table tennis team arrived safely in Panama on Friday ahead of the 2026 South American Youth Games and wasted little time getting into preparation mode, completing their first practice session yesterday morning.
The Guyanese contingent are in high spirits as they gear up for competition against the region’s top youth players, with the table tennis segment of the Games scheduled to run from Monday, April 13, to 18.
In the team events, Guyana will compete in the Under-19 Mixed Teams category, where they have been drawn in Group Two alongside Brazil, Peru and Bolivia.

The group-stage format will see teams battling for qualification to the knockout rounds.
Guyana will also be represented in both the boys’ and girls’ singles divisions. In the Under-19 Boys’ Singles, Malachi Moore and Kayden Meusa will carry the nation’s hopes. Moore is set to face Argentina’s Franco Varela in his opening match, while Meusa is drawn against Brazil’s Davi Fujii in his first outing.
The Girls’ Singles division will feature Jasmine Billingy and Samara Sukhai. Billingy is scheduled to come up against Peru’s Luciana Granados in her opening encounter, while Sukhai will meet Ecuador’s Arianny Cardenas.
The tournament will bring together top junior players from across South America, including competitors from Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and host nation Panama.
With preparations underway and the draws now confirmed, Guyana’s players will be aiming to make a strong impression as they seek to advance through the respective categories and gain valuable international experience on the regional stage.
