Guyanese cyclists complete UCI training programme in Trinidad

Three Guyanese cyclists and a Coach have completed a two-week training programme at the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) World Cycling Centre Continental Development Satellite in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.
Junior female cyclists Tandeia Noel, Sidwell Sandy and Alexander Leung participated in the track and road training camp, while Kaieteur Attack Racing Cycle Club Coach Brentnol Carmichael completed a UCI Level 2 Coaching Course.

Noel and Sandy are members of the Kaieteur Attack Racing Cycle Club, while Leung represents the Continental Cycling Club.
The programme ran from June 29 to July 11 and formed part of preparations for the 2027 Pan American Games.
A total of 14 cyclists from six Caribbean nations participated in the training camp, which was led by Satellite Development Manager Steve McEwen and UCI expert Julian Nunez Corredor.
The participating cyclists represented Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, Barbados, Saint Lucia and Dominica.

The camp provided the riders with specialised training in both track and road cycling while also allowing them to train alongside cyclists from across the region.
Carmichael was among 10 Coaches from five nations who completed the Level Two Coaching Course, which was conducted alongside the riders’ training programme.
The initiative was delivered with support from Panam Sports and in cooperation with the Pan American Cycling Confederation (COPACI).
The programme was aimed at improving the skills of emerging cyclists while strengthening the technical knowledge of Coaches responsible for developing the next generation of Caribbean riders. (Michelangelo Jacobus)
