Guyanese father, son nabbed in Suriname drug bust

A Guyanese father and son were arrested in Suriname following a Police raid in Nieuw-Amsterdam, where they reportedly uncovered a quantity of illegal drugs and contraband cigarettes.
According to reports from Surinamese law enforcement, the operation was carried out in Nieuw-Amsterdam, in the Commewijne district of Suriname. During the raid, officers allegedly discovered quantities of hashish, crack cocaine, and marijuana in the possession of the two suspects.

14 cartons of illegal cigarettes were also reportedly seized during the exercise. The two men, described as being of Guyanese descent, are also said to have been staying in Suriname illegally at the time of their arrest. Law enforcement officials in Suriname allege that the suspects were openly selling the prohibited items to drug users in the area.
Following their arrest, the father and son appeared before a court in Suriname and were remanded to custody. The matter has since been handed over to the Nieuw-Amsterdam Police Station for further investigation. The identities of the suspects have not yet been released, but a photo concealing their identities has been released by Police.
