The Guyanese students who in the past week graduated, Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad, were on Friday honoured by the Ministry of Education.

The achievement of the 19 students was recognised at a simple ceremony at the Umana Yana in Kingston, Georgetown. Having returned home, the students were all encouraged to excel and to strive for more.
Addressing the students, Minister Nicolette Henry first thanked them for returning home with the “wealth of knowledge” that they obtained during their studies.
She emphasised that this achievement is just the beginning of their journey.
The minister said: “So let me go right ahead by congratulating all of you who would have been successful at your course study at the Hugh Wooding Law School, you have made yourself and all of Guyana proud”.
She extended special congratulations to the best graduating student Latoya Roberts for her exemplary performance.
“A special word of congratulation to Miss Roberts for her exemplary performance, that of being the best Guyanese graduating student but I must say that all of you deserve a round of applause because you are all outstanding and I believe that honour must be given where it is due and so though simple, we would like to recognise and certainly honour the efforts of you all.”
She acknowledged that Law is a tedious course, and applauded the students for not allowing this to dampen their resolve to excel.
Roberts in her address encouraged those potential law students who were present at the ceremony: “Becoming a lawyer or reaching the stage that we are at this time is no easy task, and while it may be easy to pomp our chests and to pat ourselves on the back, I must let each and everyone know that it is a team effort, Hugh Wooding Law School is a team effort”.
She explained that having successfully graduated she can now say that her journey and completing law school took a team effort: “There are no individual heroes, there is no man that stand on an island by himself, and if you want to survive at the Hugh Wooding Law School, you will need each and every one of your colleagues”.
She further encouraged the young hopefuls not to be daunted by the challenges which will come their way.
