Guyanese juniors keep up good performance on day 2


Like they did on the opening day, Guyanese junior badminton players have maintained their winning ways on day two of the Caribbean Regional & International Badminton Championships, being at the National Racket Centre in Tacarigua, Trinidad &Tobago.
Guyana’s junior players all moved through to the semi-finals and medal rounds on Friday, August 11.

Priyanna Ramdhani has entered the Under-17 Girls Singles/ Girls Doubles/ Mixed Doubles semifinal, while the following players also moved in to the semis:
Tyrese Jeffrey — Under-17 Boys Doubles/Mixed Doubles; Akili Haynes — Under-17 Boys Doubles; Jonathan Mangra — Under-19 Boys Doubles; Ambika Ramraj — Under-19 Girls Doubles.

Vikash Mootoo (Gy) and Romer Pena (Dom) lost to James Babwah and Nicholi Marcano (Tri): 21-17, 21-17.
Under-17 Girls Singles Quarter-Finals: Priyanna Ramdhani (Gy) defeated Chequeda DeBoulet (Tri): 21-15, 21-8.
Under-17 Boys Singles Quarter-Finals: Tyrese Jeffrey (Gy) lost to Leon Cassie (Tri): 21-18, 16-21, 15-21
Under-17 Boys Doubles Quarter-Finals: Tyrese Jeffrey and Akili Haynes (Gy) defeated Luke Lutchman and Aidan Mootoosingh (Tri): 21-14, 21-15.
Under-17 Girls Doubles Quarter-Finals: Priyanna Ramdhani (Gy) and Imani Mangroe (Sur) defeated Sandhya Cassie and Chequeda DeBoulet (Tri): 21-14, 21-12.
Under-17 Mixed Doubles Quarter-Finals: Priyanna Ramdhani and Tyrese Jeffrey (Gy) defeated Vance Juteram and Chequeda DeBoulet (Tri): 13-21, 21-13, 21-16
Under-19 Boys Doubles Quarter-Finals: Jonathan Mangra (Gy) and Cesar Brito (Dom) defeated Aleem Ali and Nathaniel Joseph (Tri): 21-7, 21-13.
Under-19 Girls Doubles Quarter-Finals: Ambika Ramraj (Guy) and Shemara Lindveld (Sur) defeated Demi Ramdial and Johannah Walker (Tri): 21-6, 21-10.
Under-19 Mixed Doubles Quarter-Finals: Jonathan Mangra and Ambika Ramraj (Gy) lost to Renaldo Sinanan & Amanda Ramsingh (Tri): 21-13, 21-19.
