Guyanese softball cricketers reach out to Sickkids Foundation

Rems Cricket Club which has been featuring annually at the Ontario Softball Cricket League (OSCL) tournaments for the past decade shows it generosity off the field by donating Cd $1,000 to Sickkids Foundation at University Avenue, Toronto.
The simple presentation ceremony took place at the institution on Thursday and president of Rems Prakash Singh was also ecstatic to do the honours.
According to Singh, the Club has started the first of many ventures of this manner and expressed his deepest gratitude to the club’s members for their continued support and all who attended their Dinner and Dance and Casino Trip to help raise funds.
“I must say thanks to all who would have contributed in various ways to make this kind of gesture a reality; We at Rems feel that giving back to the children who in need is very important,” Singh commented.
Since the formation of the club in 2004, Singh stated the past and present players always think like that to make worthy contributions and thank the Sickkids Hospital to acknowledge their efforts as well.
Chief Executive Officer of Sickkids, Ted Garrard, in her statement, was very grateful to the support shown by Rems. “Your generous support will help give children-like Grace- a brighter and healthier future; together we will change the future of child health,” She related.
Also in attendance was Rems’ vice-captain and former skipper Ian Baldeo along with another ex-skipper Pradeep Singh. Baldeo mentioned the team is very helpful when planning to raise funds for this kind of important care and also expressed his heartfelt thanks to his fellow teammates and the ardent supporters of the club.
He declared that their main goal is moving forward to expand their fundraising to more charitable organizations within Canada and their native country, Guyana.
At the 2017 OSCL 20, 15 and 10-over competitions, Rems once again made a sterling efforts to appear at the semi-final stages and Baldeo declared that the team will continue to play positive and committed cricket in the future and will hold fund-raising activities to assist in meaningful ways.
Meanwhile, some other Canada-based Guyanese cricketers to play for Rems that represented Guyana at the youth are: Ejaz Mohamed, Rovendra Mandolall, Eon Katchay among others.
