GuyOil donates $500K to cancer care in Guyana

GTT Pinktober Coordinator Diana Gittens receives the donation to Pinktober Fund from GuyOil PRO Lanessa John-Forbes

GTT’s Pinktober fund received a financial boost recently, with a $500,000 donation from the Guyana Oil Company (GuyOil) which will be used to support and enhance cancer care in Guyana.
Receiving the sponsorship cheque at the company’s Camp Street boardroom was GTT’s Pinktober Coordinator, Diana Gittens, who expressed gratitude for GuyOil’s continuous support.
“Strong partnerships, such as the one we share with GuyOil, are integral to the success of Pinktober and the holistic attention that cancer patients and their providers receive.  GuyOil’s unwavering support continues to positively impact on cancer treatment and awareness in Guyana; together we are making a difference,” she said.
GuyOil Public Relations Officer Lanessa John-Forbes conveyed the company’s commitment to promoting cancer awareness and care in Guyana.
“While it is unfortunate that we cannot join GTT in its walk/run event this year, we will join the cause in promoting awareness through our planned internal cancer awareness activities. As corporate citizens, we all endorse physical distancing as a measure to help combat the pandemic – and we, too, shall support the annual initiative virtually.”
She further added, “We at GuyOil believe that it takes a collective effort to make an impact and our aim is to increase awareness among our employees and customers. We want to also promote prevention and the early detection of cancer.”
On October 1, GTT commenced its Pinktober 2020 events online. The company has several virtual activities to observe and promote cancer awareness this month which include Fit and Pink, the TikTok challenge, Pink Fridays and Mental Health Day.
Individuals and corporations can also support the cause by purchasing special Pinktober bottles at GTT retail stores or by ordering online and having them delivered. Donations can be made using MMG+ – simply give to code 07693.
