GWR to host oil conference for women in June

The Guyanese Women’s Roundtable (GWR) in collaboration with the Level Up Movement, WeLead Caribbean (MWC) and Georgetown American University (GAU) will host its Women in Oil and Gas Guyana (WIOGG) conference on June 20 to 22 at the Marriott Hotel, Georgetown, Guyana.

The three-day event themed “First oil, first step focusing on women”, is expected to give women an extensive view on the Guyanese new energy sector.
The programme will entail discussions of successful women to energy sector partnerships, and a meet and greet segment with Industry representatives and companies involved in the industry.
In sequence, there will be keynote addresses, panel sessions, interactive group discussions and a plentitude of networking opportunities. The attendees will participate in knowledge sharing and collaboration while building relationships and enhancing professional network.
The intent of the conference is to help women learn from successful women leaders in the oil and gas sector as they share their industry knowledge, strategies and experiences on how to navigate the space in this new industry in Guyana, advocate for local content mainly for the role of women in the sector, accelerate positive organisational change, business creation, and personal growth.

Representative of Caribbean and Georgetown American University, Melissa Varswyk
