A 35-year-old old hairdresser was on Monday afternoon relieved of her personal items while walking along Cummings Street, Alberttown, Georgetown. The victim has been identified as Wendy Griffith of Cummings Street, Alberttown.
Based on information received, the woman was walking along Cummings Street when a black CG motorcycle carrying two men approached her. Soon afterwards, the motorcycle stopped and the pillion rider came off, whipped out a gun from his waist and held Griffith at gunpoint.
He proceeded to demand she turn over her handbag which contained $20,000 in cash and a Motorola mobile phone valued at $30,000. After she complied, the bandit then hopped back onto the motorcycle and fled the scene.
Police have confirmed that CCTV footage of the area is being reviewed with the intention of apprehending the culprits.
