“We are looking for local people, Guyanese people, so we want to invite all of the professionals to come and apply to our company because we are looking for the local talent. We know that there is talent in this country. We have already had some interviews, and we are glad to see that there is potential and we want to develop that potential here in the country,” Compan explained.
The company plans to have more than 20 per cent of its workforce comprised of Guyanese. However, Rodriguez indicated that as time goes by and the sector begins to blossom, that number will significantly increase. “We are willing to train them, to provide them with the knowledge required to perform the job and help them develop their careers,” she stated.
According to Rodriguez, integration of local talent into the company is the main trait Halliburton has followed in the over 70 countries in which they operate. Additionally, it was mentioned by Rodriguez that the company is one that deals with diversity, and as such is encouraging woman to take up the opportunities that are available in the male dominated field.
