Football fanatics will converge this afternoon at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground to witness the conclusion of this year’s Hamilton Green 9-a-side Inter-Ward Cup football tournament.

The final, which had to be rescheduled due to the inclement weather, is set and ready to provide riveting action as the curtains close on what has so far been an exciting tournament. The action will commence at 15:00hrs with play in the round of 16. This will see the respective winners progressing to the quarter-finals, semi-finals and the highly anticipated final. In the day’s opener, Mahaicony will attempt to overthrow Vreed-en-Hoop, before Soesdyke clash with Liliendaal. In the third matchup, Mocha will engage Charlestown in their bid to enter the finals. Pouderoyen will then tackle Timehri, before Goed Fortuin square off against De Kindren. Bourda Blues will then duke it out with Sophia, before host, Den Amstel Back Street, take the field against Zeelugt, while Uitvlugt will attempt to see off Bagotville in the final game of the round.

The quarter-final matchups will see the winner of game one battling the winner of game 5; the winner of game 2 will then take on the winner of game 6. The other two quarterfinal matches will feature the winner of game 3 taking on the winner of 7 and the winner of game 4 locking horns with the winner of game 8.
The four survivors will meet in the semi-finals, to determine the two finalists.
The victorious team will take home $300,000 and the winning trophy, while the second-placed finisher will collect $100,000 and a trophy.
