Handyman charged for snatching cellphone

A 19-year-old Norton Street, Georgetown handyman vehemently denied a larceny charge when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Kenneth Smith Farley appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore to answer to a charge which stated that on November 7, 2017, at the Parika minibus park, in Georgetown, he robbed Rogwatia Persaud of one Samsung smartphone valued 0,000.
In a bail application on his own behalf, Farley told the court that he is a handyman and resides with his elderly grandmother in Norton Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown.
While Magistrate Azore was inclined to grant bail to the sum of ,000, Farley pleaded for a reduction as he could not afford same in such “hard times”.
Nonetheless, the Magistrate declined the reduction plea, telling Farley “not at this time sir.”
Police Prosecutor Simone Payne represented the prosecution’s case. The case will continue on December 6.
