Police in Georgetown are investigating the death of a male, who was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, in the wee hours of Saturday.
Reports are that just before 04:00h on Saturday, persons in the area heard a loud crash and upon inspection, saw the motionless body of the man lying on the roadway as a 212 motor car sped away from the scene.
When contacted, Acting Commander of Region Four Sub-Division A (Georgetown), Phillip Azore told this publication that when investigators arrived at the scene, the victim was unconscious and bore multiple external injuries. He subsequently died.
The Commander added that persons in the area referred to the now dead man only as “Dennis” or “Presy”, who was a handyman around the South Ruimveldt area.
“An unknown caller called us and said that there is a body lying on the Aubrey Barker Road and we responded, and there we saw the person with multiple visible [wounds] on the road…” the Commander said.
The body is presently at Lyken Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the police are on the hunt for the driver of the vehicle that struck the man. CCTV footage from security cameras in the area is being reviewed.
