Chief Financial and Marketing Officer of King’s Jewellery World, Harrinand Persaud has been elected as President of the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG).
Persaud, who holds an MBA, is also the Chief Financial and Marketing Officer of King’s Hotel & Residences, Bistro Cafe & Bar, King’s Duty-Free, Lehr Inc and Starr Computer.
He along with the new executive council of THAG were elected during the virtual Annual General Meeting.
Following his election, Persaud shared that it is a great honour and privilege to serve as President of THAG, while extending special thanks to immediate past President, Mitra Ramkumar; Executive Director, Treina Butts and Executive Officer, Oslyn Martindale, whom he said have all worked tirelessly over the years.
“[Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and its adverse impact on tourism and hospitality businesses,] Guyana will continue to be a top tourist destination and attraction,” Persaud said and as such he appealed to members to be ready whilst staying safe. “With a mass vaccination programme in place, our industry will bloom again, as is evident in other countries. We will continue to follow the safe practice guidelines, and gradually, herd immunity will be achieved,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Ramkumar, who is the Chief Financial Officer, Roraima Airways Inc, will serve as the immediate past President and provide continuity and guidance to the newly elected President. Persaud endeavoured to work closely with the Executives, Directors, and members of THAG, promising to call upon them for their continued support, advice and guidance.
“We will continue to work closely on projects and partnerships already established. He committed to sharing detailed plans in subsequent engagements.”
The new Executive of THAG are Vice President, Kenneth Shivdyal; Destination Development Manager, Wilderness Explorers; Treasurer, Camille Boodhoo; Managing Director, Old Fort Tours & Angellina’s Travel Service. Committee Members are Eduardo Reple, General Manager, Guyana Marriott Hotel Georgetown; Dane Gobin, CEO, Iwokrama; Zena Bone, Owner, Adel’s Rainforest Resort and Victor Pires, Managing Director, Bullseye Investments.
The Association’s membership re-appointed Ram & McRae as its auditors for the new financial year.
