A 23-year-old resident of Haslington New Scheme, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was arrested on Thursday after he was found with an illegal 12-gauge shotgun with seven matching rounds of ammunition.

The Police have said that, acting on information received, on the day in question, at about 15:30h, ranks went to the home of the suspect and informed him of the accusation that he had a firearm and several rounds of ammunition to sell.
A search was conducted on the suspect’s home, and a black 12-gauge shotgun and seven live cartridges were found in his bedroom. Police reportedly enquired whether he was a licensed firearm holder, and he responded in the negative.
He was arrested and escorted to the Cove and John Police Station, where he is presently in custody, pending charges.
