‘Head in bucket’ murder trial continues April 16

The High Court trial of Vindra Siriram was adjourned to April 16 by Justice James Bovell-Drakes, who is presiding over the matter. It was on Tuesday that Siriram denied murdering the mother of his three children, Shelly Ann Persaud at their Friendship, East Bank Demerara (EBD) home in June of 2014. According to

reports back then, Persaud was found with her head submerged inside a five-gallon bucket of water. It was stated that Siriram and Persaud were heard arguing prior to the woman’s death. A post-mortem examination had later revealed that she died as a result of drowning and manual strangulation. The State’s indictment read that Siriram committed the act between June 9 and June 10, 2014, but he entered a plea of not guilty. In September 2014, he was committed to stand trial for the woman’s murder. The defendant is represented by Attorney-at-Law Damian Da Silva while the State Prosecutors are Shawnette Austin and Seeta Bishundial.
