Moments after school assembled on Friday morning, the Headmistress of Selman Fraser Nursery School, in Albouystown, Georgetown collapsed and died.
Details of the incident are sketchy but Guyana Times was told that that the head teacher was known as Teacher Geeta, with no other information provided.
When this publication visited the school, the teachers at the school said they were instructed by officials at the Education Ministry not to speak with the media.

However, this newspaper understands that the now dead woman was chatting with several of her colleagues when she collapsed. This publication was told that the teacher suffered from hypertension (high blood pressure).
After her collapse, she was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
