Headquarters set up CoP T20 final showdown with TSU

Defending champions Headquarters will face the Tactical Services Unit (TSU) in the final of the Commissioner of Police T20 Cup after both teams secured victories in their respective semi-finals on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary.
Headquarters booked their place in the championship decider with a hard-fought 19-run victory over the GPF Academy in the opening semi-final.
Batting first, Headquarters posted 177 for nine from their allotted 20 overs, with captain Ameer Mohamed leading from the front with an unbeaten 49 off 37 deliveries, including eight fours and a six.
Kanhaiya Ramkaran provided valuable support with 36, while Andrew Lyght chipped in with 34 as Headquarters established a competitive total.
Joshua Kishundial was the pick of the Academy bowlers, claiming an impressive four for 22 from his four overs. Shane Prince, Jamal Kesney and Bhupaul Narine took one wicket apiece.
The GPF Academy mounted a spirited response, led by Vishaul Williams, who struck 73 from 20 deliveries, including eight fours and two sixes. Jarel Hemerding remained unbeaten on 31, but the Academy could only reach 158 for five from their 20 overs.
Kapildeo Charandeen spearheaded the Headquarters bowling attack with two for 11 from two overs, while Hazel Williams and Dwain Dick claimed one wicket each.
The victory earned Headquarters another appearance in the final, where they will seek to successfully defend their title.
In the second semi-final, TSU produced a convincing six-wicket victory over Region Six to secure the other finals berth.
Region Six, batting first, were dismissed for 121 in 19 overs, with Joash Sampson top-scoring with 32 and Lesroy Williams contributing 29.
Andre Baker and Damion Sardinha spearheaded the TSU bowling attack, claiming three wickets apiece. Baker finished with three for 18 from four overs, while Sardinha returned three for 24 from his allotted four overs.
TSU then made light work of the chase, reaching 127 for four in just 14.2 overs.
Sardinha completed an impressive all-round performance with 25, while Aeon Rodrigues also scored 25. Philbert Wilburg and Collis Burnett added 22 each to ensure TSU reached their target comfortably.
Andel Doris was Region Six’s most successful bowler with three for 25 from four overs, while Marvin Arjune claimed one for 14 from 2.1 overs.
The results have set up an intriguing final between Headquarters and TSU, scheduled for today from 13:00 hrs at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary.
Headquarters will enter the contest determined to retain their crown, while TSU will be hoping to end the champions’ reign and capture the Commissioner of Police T20 Cup.
