Healy set for action in today’s deciders

After suffering a mild concussion colliding with Megan Schutt during Australia’s ICC Women’s World T20 2018 game against India, Australia’s star batter, Alyssa Healy is in the process of recovering from an incident that occurred in the penultimate over of India’s innings.

Alyssa Healy has been Australia’s leading run-scorer this tournament

Healy returned to training in Antigua in the lead-up to today’s semi-final against the Windies, and Rachael Haynes, the senior Australia player, said, “I believe she’s on track. In terms of the games coming up, your guess is as good as mine.
“Obviously, she’s got a couple of hurdles she’s got to jump over, but I’ve got full confidence in our medical staff. We’ve got some of the best people in the country here with us helping her out. Obviously, it’s going to be how she progresses through that.”
Healy is crucial for Australia, the three-time World T20 champions who lost the 2016 final to the same opponents.

Batting at the top of the order, Healy has copped three Player-of-the-Match awards thus far with scores of 48, 56* and 53 in her three innings, and she is only behind India’s Harmanpreet Kaur (167) and New Zealand’s Suzie Bates (161) in the overall scoring charts with 157 runs.
The Australian Vice Captain, Haynes, in her interview before the clash in Antigua, explained that this was the first time for the team in Antigua.
“We are a confident group looking to execute our plans to perfection against the star-studded Caribbean team,” Haynes added.
Haynes is expecting a challenge especially from the West Indies Captain, Stafanie Taylor, who has been Haynes’ teammate in the Women’s Big Bash tournament. The Aussies expect a similar pitch at the Sir Vivian Richard Stadium, but simultaneously the bowlers are expecting a bit more pace. In the batting department, the batters are expected to play according to the situation of the game and execute plans in a more professional manner in contrast to their recent match against India.
