Heavyweights Regal Masters take on up setters HS Masters
Only four teams are standing in the Ink Plus, Crown Mining Supplies and Elegance Jewellery and Pawn Shop softball tournament, and this number will be further trimmed to two after today’s semifinals at the Everest Cricket Club ground.

The match of the day will begin at 10:00h when powerhouse Regal Masters will step up against HS Masters, who may be described as the dark horses.
Earlier in this tournament, HS Masters stunned the well decorated Regal Masters with a 5-wicket victory off the last ball, while Regal turned the tables a few weeks ago to set up today’s battle in a mouthwatering final.
For HS Masters, Danny Mohamram and Samuel Kingston are the men to look at with the bat, while Manoj Arjune and Hanoman Singh could be lethal with the ball.
In green and yellow are the likes of Eric Thomas, Eoin Abel, Parsram Persaud, Mahendra Hardyal, Mohendra Arjune, Fazleen Mohamed, Saheed Mohamed and Mahesh Chunilall, who are all match winners.
Meanwhile, semifinal number two will be at 13:00h and will see RR Masters challenging the fancied Wellman Masters.
With Wayne Jones, Lakeram “Mike” Singh, Lloyd Ruplall, Nandram Samlall and Greg DeFranca in their line up; Wellman will be heavy favourites, but will need to be aware of the form of RR Masters, who narrowly beat Parika Masters in the quarter finals last week also at Everest.
Parika Masters made an even 100 from 19.2 overs with S. Devanand scoring 23, while Raymond Harper picked up 3/23 bowling for RR Masters, who replied with 101 for 9 off 19.5 overs, to win by two wickets with just one ball to spare.
Peter Persaud showed his temperament with a patient unbeaten 25.
The final is set for Sunday September 9 at Everest, where live commentary, live music and other entertainment await the softball cricket enthusiasts.
The tournament is organised by the Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc (GSCL) and is being used are preparation for the second edition of the Prime Minister’s T20 Softball Cup, set for October 19 to 21 with an influx of teams from North America competing against the locals for lots of exciting prizes and bragging rights.
