Herdmanston Lodge to host Insurance Brokers Scrabble tournament

Insurance Brokers Guyana Limited is giving word formers and opportunity to showcase their skill this Saturday in a highly anticipated scrabble tournament.

The event which is slated to get underway from 10:15 Hrs on the second flat of Herdmanston Lodge is expected to be a very competitive event featuring some of Guyana’s top and emerging word formers.

According to Guyana Association of Scrabble Players (GASP) guidelines registration will begin at 9:30 Hrs and members with boards and clocks are kindly asked to please walk with them. After the start of the first round, a player who is on the way has 15 minutes to get to his table. If this time elapses, that player has to miss the first round. If a player is not registered before the start of the second round, he cannot enter the competition.

Participants are asked to please be early enough to register, pay, set up boards, and choose tiles for your first pairing.

The entrance fee stands at $700 per person. However, players arriving at the venue before 9:45 benefit from a $200 discount.

There will be six games played, with a break for lunch after the first three games.

The first three finishers as well as the player making the most bingos will receive trophies compliments of Insurance Brokers Guyana Ltd. There will also be a fifth trophy for the person who makes the highest single-play score.

Newbies are welcome to come and observe how competitive Scrabble is played.

Additionally, GASP meet on Thursdays at the new home of scrabble, Herdmanston Lodge. From 17:00 Hrs, the players practice their skills and exchange ideas to improve their overall game.
