The Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is partnering with the Environmental Management Authority’s (EMA) iCARE recycling initiative in a project to take effect at the semi-final and final games of this year’s CPL tournament, to be held at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Republic of Trinidad & Tobago.

At these games, which take place on October 10th and 12th, there will be recycling bins provided for patrons to responsibly dispose of their beverage containers (plastic and glass bottles, aluminum cans, drink cartons).
The Hero CPL takes seriously its responsibility to reduce the tournament’s environmental impact, and there is a big push at these games to make it effortless to responsibly dispose of recyclable beverage containers.
The EMA iCARE team will also be present at the games to give patrons advice on how they can help with Trinidad & Tobago’s recycling efforts once they return to their homes and offices. They will also inform as many people as possible about the benefits and positive impact of recycling.
Pete Russell, COO of the Hero CPL, has said: “We want to make sure that we are doing all we can, as a tournament, to ensure that the waste generated at our games is recycled, and we warmly welcome the EMA’s iCARE project to these matches at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. The efforts that the EMA are putting into both education on recycling and to make it as easy as possible for people to do so are so important.”
Hayden Romano, EMA’s Managing Director, has endorsed the partnership with CPL. He adds that: “The EMA focuses on fostering responsible environmental behaviours through impetus and infrastructure. The Authority continues to encourage all citizens and organizations to implement sustainable consumption and production practices at their offices and homes.
