In the height of the 2018 Local Government Election, residents of Herstelling, on the East Bank of Demerara, are calling for better roads since the current situation has become unbearable.
Speaking with Guyana Times on Monday, aggravated residents of Rum Shop Street, which is intersected by First, Second, Third and Fourth Streets, vented their frustration over the condition of the roadways.
Presently, there are large potholes which extend several metres and are sometimes impassable during the rainy season. The residents are hoping that the newly elected executives will be able to fill these gaps at the very least.
Residents would have approached the Neighbourhood Democratic Council on a few occasions but they were told that funding to repair these roads was not
