Hi Stars tame Panthers, Eagles & Rockers play to stalemate

James Trotman overlapped well to gain a brace for West Watooka’s Hi Stars who eased past Amelia’s Ward Panthers 3-1 but the clash between Eagles United and Net rockers was undecided as that ended 0-0 when the GT Beer Christmas football championship continued at the Mackenzie Sports club ground on Wednesday night.a67b8a69820dc9b34d80435767c1a271
Trotman was on target when he scored in the 7th minute for Hi stars and by the 37th minute he had the fortune of converting from the penalty spot after his fellow player was brought down heading goal-wards. The first half ended with the Stars flying at 2-0 lead, and soon it was 3-0 five minutes after the break when Michael Peters was there to slot home goal number three in the 50th minute.
With the Stars sailing towards a comfortable victory their lapse on defence saw the Panthers pull one back after a player was brought down by the Stars defender. The resultant penalty taken by Keshawn Dey was able to make it a 3-1 game which remained for the starts when the final whistle came.
The second game did not produce any goals despite the efforts of both teams where a few changes did not bring about the expected goals. While the veteran Tony Adams was his usual busy self he failed to score while the youngster Shane Luckie and experienced Denzil Pryce also were unable to rock the net. For the Eagles side the best effort was from Allan Halley who was not penetrative enough in the end.
