Home News High Court jury finds man guilty of 2017 rape
After almost two hours of deliberation, a 12-member High Court jury on Tuesday delivered a unanimous guilty verdict against George Robin, who was on trial before Justice Brassington Reynolds at the Sexual Offences Court.
Robin was indicted on the charge which detailed that on February 6, 2017, in the county of Demerara, he engaged in sexual activity with a child, who is a family member. The convicted man in his defence maintained his innocence, as he told the court “I am not guilty, I am innocent of this”.
Meanwhile, Attorney-at-Law Maxwell McKay, who represented the accused, in a request to the court, asked for a probation report to be prepared. As such, Justice Reynolds granted same and deferred the sentencing to June 25, 2019.
The State’s case was successfully presented by Prosecutors Lisa Cave and Seeta Bishundial.
