Hikers women trounce Old Fort

— Pizza Hut GCC decimate Spartans, Hikers makes light work of Pitbulls

As the Lucozade Indoor Hockey Tournament continued on Friday night at the National Gymnasium, Hikers completely destroyed the Old Fort team, while Pizza Hut GCC ladies made light work of the Spartans women.
In the first game of the night, the Hikers ladies took the game away from the Old Fort team, clobbering them with a 7-0 victory. Latacia Chung opened the account for the Hikers in the 2nd minute of play followed by a superb shot by Maria Munroe nine minutes later. In the 15th minute of play, Theresa Copeland struck the third goal for the Hikers and Charlyn Elliot registered the fourth in the 20th minute to give Hikers a 4-0 lead by half time.

The second half resumed in similar fashion with Tekisha Delion scoring Hikers’ fifth goal in the 22nd minute. Shortly after, Kenisha Wills marked the sixth goal in the 27th minute of play. Maria Munroe returned to put the final nail in the coffin to sink the Old Fort team to a 7-nil defeat in the 35th minute.
The Pizza Hut GCC team, playing in the second contest of the night handed the Spartans team a sound thrashing, leaving them to suffer a 6-1 defeat.
Doubles from Gabriella Xavier and Kerensa Fernandes ensured this defeat.
In the 2nd minute of play, the Spartans defence was easily penetrated by Xavier to register the first goal for Pizza Hut GCC. In quick succession, Tiffany Soloman matched her teammate to score the second goal for Pizza Hut in the fourth minute. Xavier would then return to blast her second and the third for Pizza Hut in the fifth minute.
By the 11th minute, Fernandes marked her first goal of the night to leave the score at 5-0. Rebecca Xavier soon followed suit and got in to the action, scoring in the 13th minute.
Fernandes came again to score her double in the 15th minute, leaving the score 6-0 by the halfway mark.
In the second half, the Spartan defence seemed impenetrable as the Hikers ladies were unable to score any goal in that session. However, Sarah Klatky scored a consolation goal in the 25th minute for the Spartans, leaving the score 6-1 at the end of the match.
In the only male contest of the night and the final match of evening, the Hikers male team made light work of the Pitbulls team, registering a 7-1 defeat.
Hikers got off to a flying start, scoring in the 7th minute of play as Randy Hope found a way through the Pitbulls’ defence. In the 19th minute Devin Munroe came to score the second goal for the Hikers as the score remained 2-0 in favour of Hikers by half-time.
The second half was packed with excitement with the third goal of the Hikers coming from Arodyd Branford in the 24th minute and the fourth goal scored by Captain of the Hikers, Robert France.
The fifth goal was scored in the 27th minute by Jero Bell before the Pitbulls team found a weak spot in the Hikers protection as Mark Sargent scored in the 29th minute.
Hope, who had opened the scoring for the Hikers, finished off the match blasting two more goals before the close of play in the 35th and 39th minute respectively, leaving the score standing at 7:1 at the end of the match.
