The home of a murder suspect came under gunfire on Wednesday evening by several men who subsequently escaped in a waiting motorcar. The gunshots were discharged at about 20:00h at the Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne) home.
Based on reports received, two men arrived in motorcar and opened fire in the direction of the house in a move suspected to have been a warning to the murder suspect, who is wanted by the Police.
The suspect is wanted for the murder of 33-year-old Keron Nicholson, who was lashed to the head with a piece of wood on March 7, 2020, and died while receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
It was reported that on the night of the incident, the suspect and the victim were engaged in a heated argument, while escalated to an altercation.
However, Nicholson reportedly left the scene and went to another location, where the suspect attacked him with a piece of wood.
Nicholson was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital, and was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he subsequently died.
His relatives have expressed some concerns that the Police failed to arrest any of the other men who were reportedly involved in the argument, to ascertain what had transpired.
