Hopetown rough up Berbice Police 4-0

Hopetown sent Berbice Police out of the Berbice Football Association (BFA), GT Beer, Candy Boss and Antics Promotion Invitational Inter Club 8-A -Side Football Tournament with a 4-nil win over the peace officers at the All Saints School Ground on Princess Elizabeth Road, New Amsterdam, Berbice on Sunday night.
It was the feature match of a double-header and the timely defeat thwarted any plans the youthful Police team had of making it into the next round.

Hometown was given its first goal in the 23 minute when a defender pushed the ball back to goalkeeper who was attempting to hold it but then realizes that if he did it would be considered a hand-ball so attempted to stop it with his foot but by then the ball had already rolled pass the goal line.
Ten minutes later Keysean Walters made 2-nil with a well-directed header and then Justin Williams put the lawmen to stand at attention scoring g a double by netting in the 36 and 50+1 minutes of play.
In the first game of the doubleheader Beacon DC registered a 6-0 win over Republican (New Amsterdam Prisons).
The tournament continues on Friday at the same venue.
