House destroyed by fire at Friendship Backdam

A single-storey wooden house at Friendship Backdam, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was completely destroyed by fire on Monday.

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) said it responded to a report of the blaze and dispatched two water tenders along with a water carrier and firefighting crews from the Campbellville and Melanie Fire Stations.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the building fully engulfed in flames. According to the fire service, firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze before it could spread to nearby structures. However, the building and all of its contents were completely destroyed. An investigation has been launched.
