Huge wins for Bishops’ and St Rose’s highlight 5th round
The National School Basketball Festival, Georgetown & East Coast Regionals’ continued on May 1st, 2016 with fifth round action at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall and saw some exciting and competitive action overall.
In the girls category; Plaisance Secondary defeated Charlestown Secondary 13-2. Daniela King led the way for Plaisance with 5 pts and 4 steals while Faith Primo poured in 4 pts and grabbed 5 steals. Taejha Allen scored the only two points for Charlestown
The Bishops’ High School trounced Tutorial High 16-2. Sileena Arjune scored 6 points and Kesann Charles scored 4 points to lead Bishops to victory. Mary Grant scored Tutorial’s only two points.
Marian Academy defeated President’s College 12-8. Jada Mohan scored 4 points and added 5 steals while Georginna Vyphuis contributed 4 points and had 7 rebounds for Marian Academy. Glaudia Garraway led all scorers with 6 points for President’s College.
St Roses High steam rolled St Stanislaus College 16-2. Jada Amerally and Ashley Khan both scored 6 points for St Roses High while Natesha Seymour was the lone scorer for St Stanislaus College.
The lone game in the male under 16 category, saw Marian Academy defeating President’s College 23-15. Jordan Alphonso led all scorers with 14 points, 6 Rebounds and 3 Steals, while Josiah Daniels had 4 points for Marian Academy. Akeem Grandon top scored for President’s College with 10 points and 4 rebounds.
The most competitive basketball of the day was played in the male under 19 category. In the opening game Tutorial High defeated St Stanislaus College 45- 35. Manesseh Murray led the way for Tutorial with 12 points, while Denzil Logan added 10 points, and Tariq Nelson contributing 8 points with 10 rebounds.
Kadeem Bowen scored 14 points for St Stanislaus.
In the other game, President’s College defeated The Bishops’ High 41-34 behind Jahleel Duke 15 points and Kadeem Peterkin’s 12 points. Timothy Thompson had 15 points, and Mikhail Broomes scored 9 points for Bishops’ High.
The final game of the day saw Georgetown Technical Institute (GTU) defeated St. Roses High 46-25 in a blow-out victory; with Nathan Saul scoring 14 points while Kerwin Griffith adding 10 points. Patrice Agrippa scored 9 points, and Anfernee Jervis added 6 points for St. Roses.
Action continues Thursday, May 5th in the Girl’s category at Marian Academy from 14:45h, with Tutorial High Vs Charlestown in the opener, Bishops High Vs Queens College, St Roses Vs President’s College and Marian Academy Vs Saints Stanislaus.
