opportunity to people regardless (of) where you are,” this was the advice given to the residents by Public Telecommunications Minister Cathy Hughes, as she explained the numerous benefits that the hub offers to all, young and the not-so-young included.
“Education is the one thing that can change the prospects of your child. You have the opportunity, with the hub, for that child to grow,” Minister Hughes told residents.
She added that the Internet enables persons to connect with others worldwide, whether through online classes, business ventures, or socializing. She revealed that the Ministry would be providing learning materials in the coming weeks, including a list of 1000 questions for Grade 6 Assessment, and CSEC pre-examination questions for students on the computers.
Phillip Walcott, Director of Community Development and Social Management of the NDMA, announced that very soon the Ministry would launch a project to train persons in the areas to be with the ICT Hub. This is to ensure that persons can be

It was explained that the hub has some 20 laptops and a team of 12 persons to manage and monitor the operations.
According to Barbara Boyce, Chairperson of the Management Committee, the hub will also be equipped with a printer. “We had a bumpy journey to this day, but we are here and (are) very grateful,” she said.
While commending the initiative, Boyce highlighted the need for individuals with the technological background to help with the ICT hub.
The newly established hub provides free WiFi, mentors, consultation and support, computer training, and the opportunity to conduct research.
