While some Guyanese are making preparation for the final leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championships at the South Dakota Circuit on Sunday, others will be heading to D’Urban Park for the Hurricane Relief Concert on Saturday evening.
The concert which is being hosted by the Civil Defence Commission, under the patronage of Minister of State Joseph Harmony and Secretary General of the Caribbean Community (Caricom), Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, was planned to raise funds to assist the hurricane ravaged Caribbean islands.
The show will feature several regional and local artistes, including Orlando Octive, Partice Roberts and Olatunji. Also performing at the show will be Guyana’s own Natural Black, Dave Martins, Jumo “Rubber Waist” Primo, Kwasi “Ace” Edmondson and Michelle “Big Red” Roberts, among others.
At the event, BK International will also launch its musical band titled ‘BK Mingles’ which will perform its maiden piece before a massive audience.
Tickets for the event were presold at $1000 each but those who have not gotten theirs as yet are asked to purchase them at Gismos and Gadgets, Shoe Heaven, Wellington Street; Forgarty’s and Giftland; Next Cell Electronics, Alexander Street, Kitty; and Andrew’s Supermarket in South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
Gates to the venue opens at 18:00h and the show gets underway at 20:00h. Security is expected to be tight.
