It was a landslide victory for Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) member Aleem Hussein who ascended to the ranks of President following the Club’s elections held Saturday.
Hussein, a highly-ranked local pro along with seven others were elected to lead the club ahead of the New Year. Outgoing LGC President Hilbert Shields during his brief remarks tipped his successor to continue the good works.
Shields believed that Hussein’s commitment to the sport will benefit the fraternity in the long run, adding that he also expects much from the newly-formed the executive body. The new executive Body will also benefit from the return long-serving executive Chatterpaul Deo who was re-elected as Club Captain following some time away from the fraternity.
Seasoned golfer Premanand “Max” Persaud was nominated as Assistant Secretary Treasurer with Hussein’s deputy being Peyton George. Ravi Persaud will occupy the secretary post while Azzarhuddin Shawh was named Treasurer while the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the club is Anasha Ally.
Hussein, following his coronation told Guyana Times Sport that he was happy to be in a better position to help develop the sport on a much wider spectrum. The new President further added that he was also looking to wrap up a successful 2017 with possibly one more tournament.
