The year hasn’t even come to a close and our peripathetic (sic) PM has already clocked up million is airfare for himself and his better half. But then you really can’t blame the fella, can you? Promised a very onerous job description as a PM on steroids in a signed, sealed and witnessed Accord, what is he to do when he discovers he’s gotten Larwah?
He might as well enjoy the ride (literally!! After all the only responsibility he actually got was to be the nominal head of “government business” in the National Assembly. And we emphasise “nominal” since when the Speaker looks over to check what the Government intends to do during sessions, he sure doesn’t look over to the PM!! And don’t say it ain’t so, Joe!!
Anyhow, with the AFC’s support disappearing faster than a snow cone in Hell, the PM has obviously put some thought to how he can keep on getting those perks — apart from the jet-setting — that he’s become used to in his old age. How do you keep him down at Whim, once he’s seen the bright lights of Main Street??!! Come to think of it, the PM never did report back to the Guyanese people as to how were the digs on Main Street, after he threw out the rats from the ovens and had the place redone, refurbished, relit and air conditioned. And those land cruisers do have some real bright lights!!
Anyhow, with the AFC having been confirmed as “dead meat” for some time now, we can discern the PM’s ploy to secure his sinecure in the post-2020 rigged future. He’s going to be the attack dog against the PPP in general and Jagdeo in particular. Did you see or hear him in action defending those dastardly PPPites who were attacking his dearly beloved Prezzie?
Nagamootoo actually accused the PPP and Jagdeo of practising “domestic terrorism” and “guerrilla warfare” in Parliament with their placards and chants!! Domestic terrorism?? Wasn’t he amongst the PPP MPs who introduced and passed the local “Domestic Terrorism Act”? He’s supposed to have passed his legal exams…did he even read the Act? If Jagdeo terrifies him, that doesn’t count as “domestic terrorism”!! Even we all know he’s very domesticated!!
But has he forgotten the fella who he swears was his political guru and after whom he’s patterned his life – Cheddi Jagan – behaved worse in Parliament? In fact, Cheddi actually knocked down law books and even the Mace – the symbol of the power of Parliament!!
In fact, if the PM had any guts (Now! Now! Dear Reader…not THOSE guts!!) he’d act up in Parliament to get what Cummingsburg promised!!
…about Police Top Brass
In the brouhaha over the Affaire Patterson, folks seem to be missing our Guyanese version of Stalin’s Great Purge extending into the Police Force. In the original version, of course, Stalin would extend the purge to every institution of the state in his quest to become the Supreme Ruler. Here, in grubby old Guyana, the efforts are inescapably on a smaller scale – but no less vicious and effective.
First, they came for the PPP appointees in the Civil Service and Government “autonomous” corporations…thousands of them. And no one said anything. Then they came for the bigger ones via the “Forensic Audits” — which are the fig leaves, not to necessarily convict them of any crimes, since none was committed, but to murder the accused reputations.
And now they’re turning on their “own”, because they’re not quite “PNC born”. They’re starting with the entire top brass of the Police Force, and where they’ll stop, who knows.
If Joe Singh can be deemed not “fit and proper”, who cannot be purged?

The Chronic claimed “the PPP hurled unsavoury comments towards Prezzie” when he was giving his speech. And what were these “unsavoury statements”, pray tell? “Pay the teachers more”! “More jobs for young people”.
Ah well…this is a country just for old men!!
