Dear Editor,
After being held in suspense for five long months, we can finally exhale… I call on all of us – the exhilarated and the disappointed – to give our young President a chance to prove himself a man for all – regardless of race, religion, status, political preferences or anything that would divide us. We pray for him in this new and challenging role, that he would walk according to the principles of truth, righteousness and justice.
He concluded his inaugural speech with the words “ God bless you all”. If he continues to acknowledge God, and abide by His principles, he will be established, for “He (God) changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.” Daniel 2:21-22 NIV (Holy Bible).
Dear Guyana, united we stand, divided we fall. Let us bury our prejudices, and work together in love and unity. Let us walk in His light and experience His grace and favour.
Sincerely,
Claudia Heywood
