“I did want buy something for meh son” – fisherman nabbed with cocaine tells Police
A 26-year-old fisherman is now in hot water after he was busted with a quantity of cocaine in his possession at Parika Fisheries Road, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) on Thursday.
Preliminary investigations revealed that on the day in question, at about 15:00h, Police, acting on information, went to the said location, where the suspect was contacted and told of the suspicion. As a result, a search was conducted on his person, during which a white plastic tube with a red cover was found in his pants waist.
Upon inspection of the tube, a quantity of suspected cocaine was found.
During questioning, the fisherman reportedly told the Police, “Sir, is just a day work I did want catch before I go back sea. I did want buy something for my son.”
As such, he was arrested and taken to the Parika Police Station, where the suspected cocaine was weighed in his presence and amounted to 0.6 grams.
He remains in custody pending investigations.
