I feel it will be one of the best race meets – Doug “Hollywood” Gore
On Sunday the South Dakota Circuit will be invaded by some fast motor cars and bikes for the final leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championships (CMRC) and Jamaican Doug “Hollywood” Gore strongly believes it will be one of the best meets of the year.
Gore, who drives what is dubbed the fastest car in the championship, an Audi TTRS, has already secured the group four 4WD drive title but still wants to travel to Guyana to compete fiercely with his fellow drivers.
“Mark Maloney from Barbados is a good driver and his car is fast, the Jeffrey’s are always fast, and Mark Vieira who I always look forward to racing against; so I feel it will be one of the best race meets in the CMRC all year,” Gore disclosed.
He added, “Winning the Caribbean championship and having Guyana as the final leg to celebrate has always held a special place in my heart, I will be crowned champ for the third time now and it feels good.”
The Jamaican’s fondest memory of South Dakota is setting the lap record of 33.3s back in 2011 which is still yet to be broken and is urging all fans to come out at to a “Hollywood Sunday” since they will be in a for a treat.
Looking ahead, the group four driver is looking to take some time off from the sport due to the high cost, attached, as he revealed “Running the CMRC is not cheap and cannot be done back to back as it’s a financial strain, so next year I might give it a miss if the sponsorship is not there.”
In five years of racing, the driver is extremely appreciative of the support given by his team since “the car has never broken down on the track ever in all of the 5 years of racing and my crew must be commended for this as this is a huge accomplishment.”
Doug closest competitor is country man Kyle Greg on 43 points while Trinidadian Kristian Boodosingh in third on 30 points.
