Illegal gun, ammo land man on remand

Dextroy Skeete of Victoria Village, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was on Wednesday charged for possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
Skeete, a 21-year-old construction worker, appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts and denied the charges. It is alleged that January 19, 2020 at Bourda, Georgetown, he had in his possession one .32 pistol without being the holder of a firearm licence. It was further alleged that on the same day and at the same location, he had two live rounds of .32 ammunition. The court heard that on January 19, Police ranks, acting on information received, went to Bourda Market where they found Skeete. A search was conducted on him, and the firearm and ammunition were found in his bag. He was remanded to prison and the case will continue on February 12, 2020.
