GMR&SC International Drag Race Meet…
During the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club’s (GMR&SC’s) International Drag Race meet, the driver with the fastest reaction time according to the port-a-tree system will be awarded US$100.

Imran Auto Works, a West Coast Demerara business, is sponsoring this prize.
A statement from the GMR&SC has thus indicated: “Imran Auto Works has joined our sponsorship team for the upcoming international drag race event on August 25. The company will sponsor US$100 for the driver or rider with the best reaction time across all time brackets for the event.
“We at the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) wish to thank Imran Auto Works for their support in this venture, as well (we are) looking forward to future partnerships.”
The August 25 event is already gaining traction, with competitors from Suriname and Trinidad indicating their interest in participating in the quarter-mile run. As many as six cars from the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago are in talks with the GMR&SC over shipping logistics for the event, while Suriname has not yet indicated how many cars would be willing to participate.
The cost for spectators’ admission to the event has not yet been set, but the GMR&SC is expected to release more details in the coming week.
Several local giants are expected to take to the strip, including team Mohamed Enterprise’s GTRs, Godzilla and Goliath; Sean Persaud’s Toyota Caldina, and the Trans-Pacific Toyota Alteeza and Peter Daby’s Mazda RX7 (second generation).
Other sponsors on board for the event include R.
