Boxing Promoter Seon Bristol of Bristol Promotions, in collaboration with the Guyana Boxing Association
(GBA) will be hosting a Jubilee amateur card this evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) starting at 19:30 hrs.
The event will feature competition from mainly the youths, juniors and school boys’ categories with the emphasis on development of our young boxers, GBA is looking to stage 15 bouts on the card.
Bristol, a former amateur boxer and manager, has been a source of support for the sport for some time. In the past he has donated equipment and trophies, assisted in overseas travel and contributed towards the encampment of boxers.
Bristol, the nephew of former Commonwealth junior middleweight champion Kenny Bristol, stated that he will be looking to his uncle and former Commonwealth lightweight champion Lennox Blackmore to make the one-night card a success.
He further stated that this event will help to develop our young talent and prepare them for other engagements and hopes it would be a memorable one.
“This event is not about making money but rather giving back to the sport and allowing those from the diaspora, back home for the Anniversary, to have a look at our young and upcoming fighters. My belief is that it is a fitting thing to do” he added.
