Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Executive Member with responsibility for the East Bank Football Association (EBFA), Dion Inniss, on Wednesday last met with the association’s Executive and General Council at the Park View Hotel, Farm, East Bank Demerara.
Inniss, a former FIFA Referee and goalkeeper, informed the members that he was pleased to have been appointed to oversee the association, which he noted has been very proactive especially in the area of youth development.
The Caribbean Airline Marketing Executive informed the association that he was there to work along closely in advancing the further development of the association in a holistic manner. Work has already begun in this regard as a Referees Beginners Course has already been organised with about 10 persons from the EBFA set to participate.
The EBFA President Franklin Wilson gave Inniss an overview of the association’s work programme, indicating that the Ralph Green sponsored Under-11 competition concluded recently with Agricola Red Triangle emerging the winner over Craig Primary School in the final.
Wilson also informed that the Stag Senior League is ongoing, while the association will kick off its Under-13 in early May.
Inniss commended the association for its continued efforts at the grassroots level, noting that this focus will ultimately impact positively at the national level. Discussions were also had in the areas of Coaches, Administrative and Female Development.
Also President of the Guyana Football Referees Council, Inniss presented various sets of FIFA Grassroots tops that have been passed on to the affiliated clubs of the association, as well as Craig Primary and Friendship.
Meanwhile, the Technical Advisor to the EBFA, Winston Benons, will be running off a Goalkeepers session for Under-11 and 13 players today at the Farm Community Centre ground from 10:00h.
All clubs are required to ensure their goalkeepers in the targeted age groups attend the session along with their coaches.
